Pop The Pig

This is the perfect game for learning how to take turns. The rules of the game and the mechanics are very simple so it’s ideal for small kids.

Clue

Classic fun! We start our kids on Clue when they’re around six. With 2-6 players, this game is great for small get-togethers and families.

Sorry

A little competitive family time! The one downfall to this game is that it only accommodates 2-4 players so it’s not ideal for parties or large families.

Connect 4

This game is only for two people but it’s a good way to get siblings to play together. It’s also a fun way to spend a little one-on-one time with your kids.

Candy Land

The perfect starter game for teaching young kids how to play board games. It has changed slightly over the years but still has the same nostalgic feel.

Yeti in my Spaghetti

This is a great game for playing with little kids. It doesn’t take long to play and it takes no time to set-up.

Monopoly

It’s a classic but can take forever to play. We are a friendly competitive family so we can play monopoly without a fight. There are so many different versions.

Battleship

This is another classic that we just love. It’s only two players. We have the retro version but it’s quite bulky so it’s not ideal if you don’t have space. We currently have a huge shelf for board games but haven’t always been that lucky.

Guess Who?

This game actually helps kids to recognize important details and improves focus. Couldn’t we all use a little more focus in this fast-paced world?

Boggle

This is such a good game for building vocabulary. It’s very compact so it makes a good travel game. This one has seen a lot of use since we bought it last year. It’s also useful for homeschooling.

The Game of Life

We have spent countless hours playing this one. It always takes me straight back to my own childhood. We still have the original game that we bought early in our marriage. This board game has made it through multiple moves without being downsized because we love it so much.

Bonus: Uno

I know this doesn’t really count as a board game but we have spent so many nights laughing gathered around the table playing Uno that it gets an honorable mention.
