Continuing to Persevere – November 2020 Goals

2020 has thrown us one curveball after another but we continue to persevere. We really thought that fall of 2020 would be the start of our trip. We had huge decisions to make this year. Would we continue with our trip? Would we cancel the entire thing? We decided to keep pushing forward. Granted we are way behind our original goal but we are still working in the right direction. We have been reminding ourselves that we don’t have to be on the road by any certain date and not to be so hard on ourselves. We are now hoping to start our trip with the new year which seems so fitting. There’s something magical about beginning a new adventure with a new year.

We recently moved forward with our plan by listing our house for sale. It honestly amazes me how much we have done in the last couple of months. We have been so incredibly busy finishing up things before putting our house on the market and preparing to travel full time. We have hit the point where we feel completely burnt out. We need a little downtime and we have been trying to spend more time relaxing when we can. We also know that we need to keep pushing now more than ever before. We are so close!

We have a lot to finish still. We are so excited for January of 2021!! It just feels so right! Now on to the November Goals.

November Goals

  • Save Money
  • Prepare to Travel
  • Get Back into a Homeschooling/Blogging/Life Groove
  • Finish decluttering/Cleaning everything out
  • Finish scanning and processing all photos
  • Moving?

We hope to save as much money as possible before leaving on our trip. We are both so nervous about how all of this will work out financially. Obviously taking a break from having a regular paycheck with three kids is scary. We have been working towards this for years but still, it’s a stressful experience. We have a budget plan for once we begin traveling. We will review and update after 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year if we plan to continue for a second year. We both have careers that allow us to easily find work anywhere. It does make me feel better knowing that is available to us. It’s easier to try something new when you have something to fall back on.

We have a ton of preparations to take care of before the excitement of full-time travel becomes a reality. We have huge things to do like sell our house but we also have quite a few little things to take care of as well. I have a long list of things saved on my phone that I have started working on. Would anyone be interested in our full list of prep? Let me know in the comments and I’ll make it a future post.

We have very much lost our normal groove during all the craziness of the last few months. Between cleaning things out, preparing our house to put it on the market, getting everybody’s medical and dental check-ups up to date, and a million other things, we basically had no normal schedule left. We are now able to get back to a semi-normal life for a few weeks and we are taking full advantage of that time. I have seriously cracked down on bedtimes, morning routines, schoolwork, chores, and mealtimes. We need that normalcy back in our lives right now. We plan to continue with a normal schedule even once we begin traveling. It helps keep all of us happier and healthier.

We are working towards cleaning out and decluttering everything we won’t need on the road. It’s such a huge life change but we have been moving forward with it and we feel freer with everything that we rid ourselves of that isn’t truly needed.

I need to finish scanning and processing all of our photos before we leave. I am backing them all up onto a hard drive. Something happening to our family photos is my number one fear. It is something that will haunt me if I don’t have back-ups of everything. I also found a pack of old CDs with photos on them while cleaning out boxes in the basement. I’m going to back all of them up onto my hard drive too.

If everything goes according to plan, we may be moving out of our house by the end of the month if it sells! That’s so crazy to us. We are pushing the decluttering hard because we know it will make a huge difference when it comes time to move. Knowing that might be in a couple of weeks makes my head spin a little bit. I don’t think any of this will feel real until it’s over and we are actually moving out. It feels so weird to be moving out knowing that we aren’t moving into another house. It’s an odd feeling that I can’t even explain.

It’s going to be another busy month but hopefully less stressful than the last few months. What are your goals for November?

  1. Hi 👋, I have been following your blog. I hope your plan continues to come together!
My husband and I made the move in October. Our home sold very quickly!
Downsizing was the most time consuming. Now that we are in our RV I am still organizing and decluttering!
Wishing you the best with your adventure 😊.
