Boone County Arboretum – Union, KY

Looking for a free day of fun in northern Kentucky?  I suggest the Boone County Arboretum.  The kids had a blast learning about the different plants and we all got a little exercise.  They had maps at the beginning that tell where each plant is located.  We also watched the butterflies.  Isabella was in heaven! She adores butterflies.  There were also dragonflies.  Ivy likes all bugs, plants, and animals.  She is a bit of a nature princess.

There were multiple bamboo clumps.  It was a great photo-op!  The girls got a kick out of it!  There is also a kid garden with places to walk through tunnels of ivy and a full playground right next to it.  It is always nice to spend a day outdoors, running in the grass, taking in the beauty, and smelling the flowers. This place is perfect for a blanket picnic!

P.S. With all the flowers in bloom, this place is a Mecca for bees! Remember if you leave them alone, they’ll leave you alone. If somebody in your party is allergic to them, please be prepared.
