The Perfect Family Room at Hyatt Place Sandestin – Miramar Beach, Florida

We recently took a trip to look at a Suburban 2500 in Fort Walton Beach that didn’t work out. (We did finally find one in Colorado that turned into a whirlwind adventure that involved flying Michael there to pick it up.) We had driven down from the Cincinnati area on Friday night. Michael had worked all day. I had been making last-minute preparations for this trip and taking care of the kids all day. We took turns attempting to nap during the trip.

After arriving at the car dealership first thing in the morning, I hopped on Expedia to book us a hotel room for the night. There weren’t that many options available that provided us with enough space for the whole family to stretch out because of our last minute booking and the fact that I refused to spend more than $200. But I managed to find a great room nearby in Miramar Beach.

The car dealership didn’t have the car ready when we arrived so we went to breakfast. Checked back in with the dealership and it still wasn’t ready so we went to a nearby pier. We walked on the beach and along the pier. It was beautiful. They were finally ready. Michael and I test drove the car. Michael said there was something about it that made him uncomfortable. He spent ages under it, making phone calls, and generally picking it apart before discovering there was a serious issue. I’m glad he is the way he is! We are both impulsive and non-impulsive about different things. I wouldn’t have put as much thought into the perfect vehicle but I will spend ages planning trips. We balance each other out so very well.

By the afternoon on Saturday, we were exhausted. We stopped on the way to the hotel to stuff ourselves on Whataburger. It’s one of our all-time favorites and they don’t have them in Cincinnati. We were so happy to check into our hotel room. I still had the brainpower to grab some photos of the room. It was beautiful and clean.

We all took a quick shower since we had been at the beach earlier in the day. Michael pulled the curtains shut and I barely made it into the big cushy bed before passing out at 6:30 pm. I slept like a rock. It was quiet and comfortable. I woke up snuggling Octavia around 5 am and made the choice to go back to sleep. I finally stumbled out of bed at 6 am, almost 12 hours after my head hit the pillow the night before.

I took a long, hot shower and got dressed before getting the kids ready to go downstairs for breakfast. It was free if we signed up for the Hyatt rewards program which was free with our stay. It was a no brainer. We packed our stuff up and Michael ran our bags out to the car so we wouldn’t have to return to the room.

The breakfast was very good for a free buffet. There was something for everybody: eggs, bacon, waffles, monkey bread, fruit, yogurt, bread, jelly, oatmeal, cereal, milk, juice, and coffee. Octavia doesn’t like meat or cheese. She was so happy with the fruit and yogurt selection. Isabella was excited to eat an entire plate of scrambled eggs. She’s obsessed with eggs lately.

The dining area has a view of flowers that were covered in butterflies. There is a lounge downstairs that I later found out Michael had wondered around overnight when he couldn’t get to sleep. I was so tired that I didn’t even know he was gone. There was a nice bathroom downstairs that was much appreciated by this mom of a potty-trained 3-year-old. We used it instead of going back upstairs to our room before hitting the road.

We decided to stop by the beach before driving home and were happy to find that there was access super close by. Thank you, Hyatt, for having our back on a questionable trip. FYI: Not a sponsored post. Just a tired mom that was very happy with the accommodations.

Happy Travels!
