It’s late but this is our February goals post! I didn’t write a monthly goals post for January because I was so preoccupied trying to figure out our 2020 goals post. I know we are already a week into February but I decided that this is a habit that I don’t want us to break. It has been really good at helping to keep us on track. If you don’t do this, I highly suggest you try it for a few months. It helps you focus on what is really important to you. The first few months were weird and took forever. As time went on and we got more in touch with our big goals, they became easier and easier to put together.

February Goals

  •  Declutter
  •  Establish a Blogging/Vlogging Schedule
  •  Finish/Post Our First Vlog
  •  Finish Two Books
  •  Continue Planning Our Trip

Declutter

The time has come! We need to start seriously decluttering. The most important thing on our list of February goals is to work hard to declutter everything we can. We have so much junk. I wanted to wait until after the holidays to start up again because it was all too stressful. We want to get rid of everything that we will not need on the road that we possibly can. I know that we will have some sentimental items that we can’t part with but I’m hoping we can keep them to the bare minimum. Anything that we decide to keep that we don’t need to take with us will have to go into storage at an additional expense. We aren’t opposed to having a small storage unit and likely will. The smaller the unit we can get by with, the lower the monthly price will be.

I think that we can get through a lot of it without feeling completely overwhelmed by doing a bit each day. We have already gotten rid of so much but we are nowhere close to where we want to be. We want to be done with most of it by May. I might share some of our bigger decluttering sessions with all of you.

Establish a Blogging/Vlogging Schedule

I really need to come up with a schedule that works with our lives. I still work two 12 hour days a week and sometimes have a short day for classes or meetings. My husband, Michael, works 5-6 days a week. I homeschool Isabella (10) and Octavia (3) four days a week. I can actually get most of my writing and things done while they are working on schoolwork because they are occupied.

The planner I have used for years, I had to send back after ordering it at the end of the year. It was made very cheaply this year. That made me consider going digital. I was planning to give up my paper planner this year and try to use a digital one. It didn’t go well at all. I bought a new paper one at the end of January. I need to have that visual for a planner to work for me. At least they were 75% off by then. Being without a planner made everything, including blogging, way harder.

I’ll release a posting schedule hopefully at the end of the month. I may post my blogging schedule at some point because it’s something I have struggled with a lot. It’s so hard to balance blogging, work, homeschooling, running our household, decluttering/preparing for our trip, visiting friends and family, exercise, vlogging, social media, pet care, our home remodel, and not completely losing my mind. I feel better when I have a set plan. I like to set a timer for the allotted amount of time. It’s so easy to fall down a rabbit hole and spend hours on something that I originally only planned to spend an hour on.

Finish/Post Our First Vlog

I attempted to edit our first vlog. It was horrible. I downloaded another editing software and I’m hoping that will help. I have a goal to post one by the end of the month. It’s so much to learn. I’m completely new to all of this.

Finish Two Books

The goal is to read at least two books a month. I used to read at least a book a week but have slowly drifted away from it. It was so relaxing and I really miss it. I hope to make time to read more this year. The two books I have chosen are:

You are a badass

You are a Badass

and

The Journey in Between: A Thru-Hiking Adventure on El Camino de Santiago

Continue Planning Our Trip

I have started planning our trip. If all goes according to plan, we will leave here in September and start our slow journey west. I’m trying to get a rough idea together of things that we don’t want to miss. I did plan out our first week so it will be easier for us while in the transition to our new lifestyle. We are trying to make it to the Grand Canyon North Rim before it closes in mid-October. That has set the beginning of our timeline. We are planning for only Plan A. We have a backup plan B but we aren’t putting any effort into planning it. If we have to go to plan B for a while, we will just start plan A later.

Trip Countdown: 219 days to go! (Seriously, where does time go?)

  1. Apart from the vlogging bit. I’m basically stealing these goals for myself 😊 need a massive declutter in the house and need a to work out a blogging schedule that works. It’s stressing me out so much. I’m interested to see how you go about it.

    1. It’s so hard to find a schedule that works with life. I hope you find the right option for you! I will share mine as soon as I figure it out.

  2. I need to start the indoor seedlings for my backyard veggies, and I like your first goal of massive decluttering! I usually set that for spring cleaning, but then the cleaning itself becomes overwhelming and the decluttering never happens, so starting a month earlier sounds like a great idea. All the best for your goals and trip planning!

    1. I have found myself in the same situation with spring cleaning many times. It’s all just too much. Good luck for your seedlings!

    1. I will be sharing book reviews for both books soon. We have never been to the Grand Canyon and we’re all so freaking excited!!
