Knot Your Own Avocado Pillow

Knot Your Own Avocado Pillow

We decided to check out a local discount store, Bargain Hunt, on the suggestion of a friend. We hadn’t found much until we got to the kid’s/toy area. There were a lot of art and science kits. It’s summer and I need to keep these kids busy. I was so excited to find this knot your own avocado pillow kit for Isabella to make. She is very advanced in math and reading but struggles with arts and crafts. I like to encourage her to try things that are difficult for her. I asked her to make this pillow for me and she was really excited to do it.

The kit came with all the pieces needed. She needed help laying out the outer pieces of the avocado. I helped her with lining up the strips and showed her how to tie them. It was really hard for her and she got upset at first. After about a fourth of the pillow was done, she had figured it out and was more comfortable. She left a gap to stuff it through before finishing it. The eyes, mouth, blush marks, and the avocado pit are felt stickers.

It was an easy craft that helped her to work on hand coordination and patience. I really enjoy craft kits that require little to no input from an adult and no additional items from home.
