5 Kids Shows on HULU That Parents Will Love Too

Summer is approaching which means that we will all be spending more time with our kids. While I love being outside and playing board games as much as the next parent, sometimes you want to spend an afternoon or evening snuggling on the couch. These are five of the shows I have personally watched with my kids that I actually enjoyed.

1.) Star vs. The Forces of Evil – (3 Seasons TVY7)Disney has done it again! There are three seasons currently on here and we’re hopeful that the fourth (and final) season will be added soon. This cartoon deals with heavy adult topics in a way that opens lines of discussion. It helps kids to ask questions and relate to the world in a deeper manner.

Hulu’s description: After a few bold skirmishes with other-worldly monsters, fun-loving magical teen princess Star Butterfly is sent by her Royal Parents to live with the Diaz family on Earth, bringing along her own unique interdimensional style to her new planet. With the Diaz’s teenage son Marco by her side, this foreign exchange student from another dimension embarks on new adventures battling evil villains throughout the multiverse and in high school, all in an effort to protect her powerful magic wand which she is still figuring out how to use.

2.) We Bare Bears – (2 Seasons TVY7) This cute comedic cartoon is about three unique bears living in a cave and interacting with society. This show is so adorable I would watch it without my kids. There are two seasons and the episodes are really short so they are nice for a quick cuddle. FYI: Season 3 is on Netflix.

Hulu’s description: We Bare Bears is a comedy about three bear siblings named Grizzly, Panda, and Ice Bear. Each episode follows their awkward attempts at integrating with the human world in the San Francisco Bay Area, whether they are looking for food, trying to make human friends or scheming to become internet famous. Whatever the situation, it’s obvious that being a bear in the civilized, modern world is tough but at least they have each other!

3.) Gravity Falls – (2 Seasons TVY7) This one will suck you in. The only downside is that it only has two seasons. This cartoon is like that old show Twin Peaks except for kids. I love Bill! There is an underlying constant plotline to follow so you don’t want to miss episodes.

Hulu’s description: Twin brother and sister Dipper and Mabel Pines are in for an unexpected adventure when they spend the summer with their great uncle in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. Upon their arrival, Dipper and Mabel’s huckster great uncle, also known as Grunkle Stan, enlists the siblings’ help in running The Mystery Shack, a fun tourist trap he owns that overcharges unsuspecting customers. Although Dipper and Mabel quickly discover The Mystery Shack itself is a hoax, they sense there is something strange about their new town and together they begin to unlock the secrets of Gravity Falls.

4.) The Amazing World of Gumball – (5 Seasons TVY7) This show is aimed at both teens and young kids so it’s fun for the whole family. It has similarities to 90’s cartoons.

Hulu’s description: Gumball’s world is pretty run-of-the-mill. He’s chased around school by a T-rex. He has a friend named Anton who’s a piece of toast. He’s got a crush on Penny, a peanut with antlers. His dad is a 6’4″ bunny. His mom works at a Rainbow Factory. And his brother is a goldfish named Darwin. Yup, everything looks perfectly normal here.

5.) Adventure Time – (10 Seasons TVPG) This show is directed more at tweens and teens. We have watched it as a family and enjoyed it. We haven’t watched all of it yet because there are ten seasons. That will keep you going for a while.

Hulu’s description: It’s one crazy adventure after another for human boy, Finn, and his best friend, Jake, a 28-year-old dog with magical powers. They’re out to have the most fun possible and they sure do find it exploring the land of Ooo! Whether it’s saving Princess Bubblegum, battling zombie candy, taunting the Ice King or rocking out with Marceline the Vampire Queen, with Finn and Jake it’s always ADVENTURE TIME!

These should keep all of us sane a little longer. What shows do you love watching on Hulu with your kids? Or without them (Don’t worry, I won’t judge)?
