June Goals 2019 – End of Month Review

June Goals

  • Octavia’s Third Birthday
  • Season/Year Passes
  • Declutter
  • Yard Sale/Donate
  • Work On Our House
  • Continue Learning about Homeschooling

Octavia’s third birthday was amazing! We had a party with friends and family at our home the weekend before her birthday. She had a Peppa Pig cake. It was a lot of fun to see everybody and spend a relaxing day together. On her birthday we went to breakfast at IHOP (her favorite), went to the Cincinnati Zoo, had Chick-fil-A for dinner, and Build-a-Bear for the first time. You can read about our experience at Build-a-Bear here. It was Octavia’s perfect day! I still can’t believe that my baby is three!

We decided to do a pass to the Cincinnati Zoo and for Hamilton County Parks. We loved our first visit to the zoo this year and knew it was the right choice. We have already been a couple of times and I know we’ll get our money worth out of this pass. I love being able to take the girls for a few hours without worry about the cost. The pass we choose included parking, a free guest with each visit, and unlimited train and carousel rides. We took my sister once so far. The girls love the unlimited rides! The Hamilton County Park pass is only $15 and well worth it. We hope to visit all of the parks this year.

We have continued our decluttering efforts but it has been slow this month. It’s so hard to focus on such things when there is warm weather outside. We currently have a bag in our front coat closet that we place things in to go to the yard sale pile. This has helped us when we come across something that we know we want to minimize. It doesn’t require any additional thought this way. Also, we discussed it as a family and have decided to not replace something that breaks, rips, or outgrown unless it is 100% necessary to our everyday lives. We all have more clothing, shoes, and accessories than we will be living in an RV. We have way too much kitchen stuff still. The kids have more toys than would ever fit in their meager travel toy storage. We are continually using up art supplies, science kits, soap, cleaners, makeup, and nail polish. We have a large bookcase of Ivy’s and my old books in our basement. Isabella is an avid reader. She has been reading through them instead of buying new books.

We didn’t end up having a yard sale this month. Honestly, we had a busy and fun month as a family. I wouldn’t change a thing and regret nothing. The entire point of the changes we have been making in our lives is to be able to spend as much quality time together as possible.

We have done some projects around the house this month, both small and large. We decided on our paint color and purchased our paint. We started painting but still need to finish the kitchen. We decided on a color for the kitchen cabinets. We pressure washed the back porch and the siding. We starting planning our master bathroom remodel. We changed our plug covers and switch plates as we painted.

I read two books about homeschooling and learned some new things. We have started to really narrow down our supply list since we will have minimal space for supplies. We have tried out a few different programs online to see if there is anything that we know we want to include in our lessons. Isabella has found a love for Khan Academy this summer. It’s free and so easy to use.

Did you do anything awesome in June? Work on any projects? Share it with us below!

  1. Spent quality time with my grandchildren in two different States 😊 Love them all spending a week at each of my daughter’s home with grandchildren doing fun things such as gardening and cooking. They all still love to cuddle with their Mom mom🥰
