Wonderful Sandwiches at The Downtowner – Madison, Indiana

We recently spent the day hiking at Clifty Falls State Park and stopped for an early dinner in Madison, Indiana at The Downtowner. This cute little restaurant is right on the main road. It had decent reviews on Yelp and appeared to be kid friendly. We parked on a nearby side street and walked.

It looked small and quite full when we entered but there was an additional seating area. We chose to sit there away from everybody because I was worried that we were stinky from hiking all day. The air conditioning was the best thing ever after being in the heat all day! The girl working there was very nice. The place was very clean including the bathroom.

We all decided to get sandwiches. I had an amazing club! They put butter and stuff on the top of the bread so it tastes like garlic bread. Ivy can’t remember the name of the sandwich she got but said it was good. Isabella got a Little Italy and loved it. The sandwiches all come with a bag of potato chips and a pickle spear. Octavia got a turkey sandwich kids meal which came with a smaller sandwich, chips, and 2 Oreo cookies.

The prices were decent at under $10 per person. We stopped at Village Lights Bookstore on the way back to our car. It’s the cutest little shop! The lady working there was really nice and even stayed open a few minutes late for us to finish looking around. Isabella and I are avid readers. We both found books we wanted.
