Trying Falafels at Milya Cafe – Blue Ash, Ohio

I had some serious cravings for Mediterranean or Middle Eastern food going on. I got online looking for some recommendations. I double-checked the places I found on Yelp before deciding on Milya Cafe. They have 4 & 1/2 stars on Yelp currently and I understand why after eating there!

Playing with straw wrappers while waiting for food to come

The place is small and at the end of a strip mall. We found parking easily right in front. The outside patio is small but very cute. We had been outside all day and it was hot, so we sat inside. The inside of the place is clean including all the open tables. The bathrooms were tidy. We know because we visit them all now that Octavia is potty training.

We went all out and ordered a lot of things to share. We ordered falafels ($4.99 for six), grape leaves ($4.99 for eight), fried mushrooms ($6.98 per order),  a gyro wrap ($8.99 for the platter that came with fries and a Mediterranean salad), and a chicken shawarma wrap ($5.99). We do this often at restaurants so we all get to try lots of different things. We skipped the soft drinks and went for water. We had been playing in the heat all-day, plus drinks were $1.75 each! Everything here was delicious and fresh.

Isabella and Octavia had the pleasure of trying their very first falafel! They both enjoyed them. It turned out that Isabella loves grape leaves now. We have a hard time finding places that make fried mushrooms. These were good and the order size was quite large. It was 10 fried mushrooms! We didn’t realize they were so big and got two orders.

We were so full by the time we gave up and got a to-go box. Next time, we will only get one order of mushrooms. We will get rice with the gyro platter instead of the salad or only get the wrap without sides. This place is definitely worth a visit! I know we’ll be back!
