September Goals 2019 – End of Month Review

September 2019 Goals

  • Save Money
  • Become More Comfortable with Homeschooling
  • Continue Home Improvement Projects
  • Continue Decluttering
  • No Spend Challenge
  • Create a Timeline of Things to Complete During Our Last Year Prior to Travel

We have been working on saving money, especially on dumb stuff. We have our special savings account set up now and we’re anxious to watch it grow. I set up a Facebook page to post our stuff for sale for our family and friends. My thought was that I could start by putting stuff on there. If it doesn’t sell, I already have the photos to post it on Marketplace or wherever. Ivy is going to help with posting things to eBay too. I hate yard sales so bad that I figured this is a great way to get the ball rolling.

We are starting to get much more comfortable with homeschooling. We have found a groove that seems to be working for now. We have an all-day school schedule, a half-day school schedule, and an overall weekly goal plan. We tend to do a full school day on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. We do a field trip or outing on Wednesday. Thursday is typically reserved for errands and we do a half-day of school. She reads a lot in the evenings and on the weekends for enjoyment. We don’t count her additional reading into our required hours but we are keeping a list of all the books she’s reading. We knew we wanted a simple tracking method and a basic overall schedule. I try to stay a couple of weeks ahead on lesson plans but allow it to be flexible. Sometimes Isabella gets through things very quickly and other times she lingers too long or gets distracted.

We didn’t get to make it through many of our home improvement projects this month. I didn’t have a lot of time early in the month and was unable to do much because of an injury to my right hand late in the month.

We continued working on decluttering by using things, like school and beauty items. We started the Facebook page to list items for sale or giveaway.

We have been avoiding buying unnecessary things and making an effort to make do with the stuff we already have. The girls have loads of craft items that we have been making an effort to find ways to use without buying anything new. We had loads of books and toys in the basement that they have been having a great time with.

I started working on our list of things to complete over the next year. I’m currently keeping it as a note on my phone because I’m unable to write it in my planner. It sucks but at least I’m getting it organized.
