Complete Blogtober

This is a huge goal for me! I really want to keep up with posting every day for the month of October. I don’t tend to schedule tons of posts ahead. I tend to write things and post them as I get them finished. Blogtober presents a serious challenge to this kind of thinking because I will have to schedule some things in advance, at least enough to cover work/busy days. I’m hopeful that after I get accustomed to daily writing that posting 3-4 times a week will seem even easier. I hope to one day turn this blog into our primary focus. I love blogging and have been doing it for years. I would love to see this site grow so that I am able to work on it even more.

Practice Filming/Vlogging

We are seriously considering starting a Youtube channel to share our experiences while traveling. We have been thinking of starting it before we leave to cover the preparation stages and anything fun we do during this next year. We want to do this for two very important reasons.

1. We love sharing our lives with all of you. This would give us a chance to connect even more. We have always shown the back story and cold hard facts on this blog while preparing to live our dreams. Some things are hard to put into words and I wonder if a vlog may resonate better with people.

2. I think it may lower the initial stress and shock of being on the road. We know we want to do this when we leave. I think doing some practice vlogging and editing now might make it less stressful. We are already going to be so far outside of our comfort zone and adding the additional stress of one more new thing might be too much. Also, this will give me time to learn the editing software in advance. That kind of stuff stresses me out until I really get it. Blogging has taught me time and time again to take my time when learning new stuff involving tech. It has also taught me that I’m capable of doing all of it with a little time but I get a little cranky when trying to force my way through it with an arbitrary deadline. Part of my self-care journey has been to accept these things about myself and find ways to be less hard on myself. I used to have such negative self talk while trying to figure out new things. Now, I remind myself of all the times this has happened before and I figured it all out eventually. I’m actually faster at learning new stuff because I’m not so stressed out.

Save Money

You knew it would be here! It’s our primary focus until we leave. It’s the thing always in the background and it should be. We need a healthy savings to buy our towing vehicle, our travel trailer, and have the money needed to travel full time as a family of five. Money is the key to making this whole dream happen. It’s not pretty to talk about but it’s important. We want to make sure we have a large fund for when/if we settle back down too.

Continue Decluttering/Facebook Yardsale

I set up a Facebook yardsale group for our friends and family. We plan to post things there as we declutter. I recently hurt my hand at work and I’m having a hard time doing a lot of things. I set this aside for now but hope that with the help of my kids we can post some stuff this month. We have so much stuff in our basement to sell.

We started a special savings account a while back for our travel fund. We have a jar we put pocket change and anything left from our grocery budget. Isabella has been put in charge of rolling change and counting money to deposit into it weekly. I want all of our kids to be involved in the process so they understand how important planning is. Any money we make from selling anything goes directly into that jar. It really helps to keep us all motivated!

Enjoy Fall/Halloween

Fall is so much fun! We have loads of things planned to do outside to enjoy the weather but the weather is not currently cooperating. It’s going to be 92 degrees today! It’s summer outside. It’s supposed to cool down in the next week and we couldn’t be more excited! I can’t wait for a comfortable park and zoo days.

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays. We decorate and the whole family dresses up. We are thinking about being a family of witches this year. This is our last Halloween in this house and we’re going to do it right.

Classes/Groups/Socialize More

We started homeschooling this year. Life has gotten very busy. We want to get the little girls out more often to be around other kids. We go to the park at least once a week. Isabella plays with the neighborhood kids, friends, and family. However, she is a very social creature and I think she needs more. We have been considering some different classes or groups. Our local library hosts a number of free or inexpensive classes including a homeschoolers group that meets monthly. We have decided to start by doing something once or twice a week. This will be a great way to add to her education as well. She has many interests and will find something to interest her.

It’s going to be another busy month around here! What are you doing? Any goals you want to share? Drop a comment below!

    1. I have no idea either! I’m sure it will be a mess but that’s part of the fun. Good luck with everything!
