Our Family Fall Bucket List

Our Family Fall Bucket List

With the setting of our departure date, we realized that this will be our last fall in our home. We decided to create a bucket list for each season until we leave so that we can enjoy all of our favorite things and places around Cincinnati one last time before we leave. If you’re looking for ideas for your own fall bucket list, you will find some here. If you live in/near Cincinnati, you can use this as your own family fall bucket list! We will be updating and linking posts as we visit places. You can have all the fun with no planning required!

1.) Farm Day – We will definitely be visiting one of our favorites, Farm Haven in Union, KY. We would like to visit a couple of new to us farms around Cincinnati too. They are Burger Farms Fall Pumpkin Festival and Country Pumpkins.

2.) Pumpkin Patch – We would like to visit a farm where you take a hayride to the pumpkin patch and bring home a beautiful pumpkin.

3.) Corn Maze – There is a decent corn maze at Farm Haven that totally works for this!

4.) Hayride – We are hoping for 2 very different hayrides. We will have the one to the pumpkin patch if we can find one that’s open on weekdays. We love the hayride out to feed the cows at Farm Haven. It’s a big part of the reason we love it there!

5.) Carve Pumpkins – We plan to make an entire day/evening out of this! We love carving pumpkins. We plan to use all of our equipment this year one last time… or maybe twice. I wouldn’t be opposed to 2 days of carving pumpkins.

6.) Halloween Costume Shopping – We LOVE dressing up for Halloween! We plan to spend a day out checking out all the fun Halloween costumes. We are trying to come up with a family costume idea that can include the dog. I’ll let you know what we come up with.

7.) Trick or Treating – A great time to show off those Halloween costumes! We talked about trying to hit a couple of trunk or treats during the day so that Octavia can enjoy it during the day. I have a feeling she might be scared of stuff this year.

8.) Pumpkin Candies/Candy Corn – We love those candy corn pumpkins! We get a bag of them to share every October.

9.) Make Halloween Cookies – We make those packaged sugar cookies with the pumpkin in them every October. We rarely make cookies but it’s a tradition that goes back to when Ivy was a preschooler. She thought these cookies were the coolest!

10.) Decorate for Halloween – We will be decorating our house for Halloween for the last time. It’s things like this that make me realize how fast a year will go by! We already bought our first fall pumpkins to decorate our kitchen table.

11.) Decorate for Thanksgiving – Same for decorating for Thanksgiving. We are hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year too. We want our house to look super nice for Thanksgiving dinner.

12.) Halloween Movie Marathon – This is a requirement for Halloween and Christmas around this house. This is a tradition we will be continuing regardless of where we are.

13.) Caramel Apples – We buy these somewhere every fall. It just feels right.

14.) Bake an Apple Pie – We plan to make at least one of these for fall.

15.) Make Pumpkin Pie – We adore homemade pumpkin pie. I make them every year for Thanksgiving.

16.) Host Thanksgiving Dinner – I’m off work this year! I want to host a big Thanksgiving dinner for the family.

17.) Homemade Baked Applesauce – I make homemade baked applesauce in the slow cooker every fall. The whole house smells good for days!

18.) Fall Photo Shoot – I want to get photos of our whole family this fall. We haven’t done family photos in a very long time.

19.) Crunch the Leaves – Our girls love playing in the leaves in our front yard every year.

20.) Take a Trip to See the Fall Foliage – We want to take a trip to see the pretty fall foliage. We are considering Hocking Hills, Red River Gorge, or Cumberland.

Wow! October & November are going to be a blast!

  1. Some lovely ideas here!

Looks like you’re going to make the most out of your last fall in Cincinnati!

I love the idea of taking a hayride to a pumpkin patch but not sure if there’s any near us 😞.

Definitely going to take the little boy to a farm soon though!

  2. I think it’s great that you are making the most of your last fall at your home with this bucket list. There are so many great things to see and do in the fall. I hope you are able to get all of these done.

    1. Thank you! It’s such a weird feeling to know we won’t be here next year, exciting and a little sad at the same time.

    1. Thanks! My sister doesn’t have kids yet and loves using her nieces as the perfect excuse to do all the fun kid things, lol
