December Goals

  • Have a Merry Christmas
  • Stick to our Budget for Christmas
  • Continue Decluttering
  • Continue Working on our House
  • Complete Blogmas

This will likely be our final Christmas in our house and we want it to be a great one. We set up our Christmas tree already. We have some other decorating we want to do. We started our advent calendar again. The girls were so happy to see it again. I have no idea how or where our next Christmas will take place so I feel like we need to get all the Christmas vibes we can now. We have a few Christmas related outings planned too.

We have set a budget for Christmas and related outings. We are going to try very hard to stick to it. We are also being careful not to buy or ask for things that we are going to have to get rid of before we leave. It’s so weird to think that we are close enough to be considering things like that.

We will be continuing with our decluttering efforts even during the holidays. I plan to declutter our Christmas decorations too. The plan is to declutter the holiday items that we don’t need for this year now. We will then go through everything else when we pack our Christmas stuff away in January. We hope to be down to one storage tote of sentimental ornaments and holiday decorations after we are done. We have decided to keep our Christmas tree until we leave just in case the house doesn’t sell or something happens that keeps us here longer. It’s a fairly new tree and may possibly go into our storage unit if there is room. We have a few “maybe” items that depend on storage space. If we think that we can get rid of enough stuff that we can do without a storage unit then all of those items will be sold or donated. We know that we will have a greater sense of freedom if we have less stuff crammed into a storage bin. Things have a way of weighing us down and storage bins get expensive. We have to look at the cost of replacing items versus the cost of storage. We have decided that it’s not worth the cost for most items so only sentimental items are guaranteed to make the cut.

We will be continuing to work on our house every chance we get. There is so much left to do before next summer. We are pushing hard to get as much done as humanly possible with fulltime jobs and three kids. Life alone can be busy enough but we have to find the time to finish as many projects as possible. We have a few large projects and a seemingly infinite amount of little ones that we have to accomplish. We are debating between working on the kitchen or master bathroom next. I will include some before and after posts once we completely finish everything.

I really want to quit neglecting this blog. Last month was so personally difficult that we didn’t put any effort into blogging. We think that Blogmas is the perfect way to turn that all around and finish the year on a high point. We do so much fun stuff this time of year and we love sharing that kind of stuff with all of you. We want you to be a part of the festivities of our final Christmas in Cincinnati. If you know of any awesome places in or near Cincinnati that we need to add to our holiday plans, leave it in a comment below!
