Is your life in need of a spring clean? The items on this list are all about getting rid of things that aren’t adding value to your life. Complete each of these to clean up your life right now!

Schedule

Take some time to review your schedule and see if you need to adjust anything. It’s so easy to continue to pile things on without realizing that we don’t have time. The only way to have free time for self-care is to set aside time in your schedule for yourself.

Debt/Budgeting

This can be the year that you finally get your finances under control. Find a budgeting option that you like and stick to it. Are there any places you can cut back? Are there any subscriptions that aren’t bringing value to your life anymore? Make out a list of all of your debts and your financial goals. Figure out logical ways to make them happen. Set up a plan with exact numbers and dates to have things done. Then work hard to meet all of your financial goals.

Wardrobe

Do you love everything in your wardrobe? Does everything fit you well? If you answered no to either of these questions, it’s time to spring clean your wardrobe. Go through each type of clothing and decide what to keep. Going through one type at a time helps to minimize mess while cleaning things out. When you are done, figure out if there are any pieces that you need to complete your wardrobe. You may want to consider a capsule wardrobe if you really want to simplify your life.

Phone

Give your phone a serious declutter. Take this time to remove all apps that you no longer use. Back up your photos on your computer or in the cloud. Personally, I back all of ours up on a hard drive. I linked the newer version of the one we use. Go through your photos and delete anything you don’t want while you’re at it. Make files to place the apps you’re keeping in to further declutter your phone screen. While you’re at it, clean up your laptop and tablet too.

Social Media

Spring clean all your social media accounts. Are you happy with each social media site you’re currently using? Do you want to delete any of them? Do you want to use any of them differently? Are you using any of them too much? Should you set time limits going forward? Do you have “friends” that you would never talk to in real life that annoy you on social media? Do you follow people that make you feel bad about yourself? If so, why? You can unfriend or unfollow people. I have even done a social media detox for 30 days before because I felt like it was taking too much time out of my life. It was a great experience that taught me a lot about myself and how to set limits with social media in my life.

Relationships

Are there relationships that are negatively impacting your life? This could be a romantic partner, friend, or family member. Don’t stay in a relationship or spend time with people that you know are bad for you. I know it’s incredibly hard to remove people from your life even if you know that they are a bad influence. Depending on the situation, you might be able to just limit contact with those people or that individual. Only you can decide how negative it is and how big of an impact it is having on your life.

Email

Is your inbox overflowing with unread email? Is it full of unneeded junk like ads for stores that you shopped at once? Set aside some time to deal with it, not just delete it. Unsubscribe from everything that isn’t bringing you value. Respond to anything that you need to. Read things that you have been meaning to. Make a file for things that you need to keep. Deal with everything in your inbox once and for all. Delete all your junk and empty your trash bin. If you have multiple emails, do this for all of them.

Purse or Wallet

I don’t know about everybody else but my purse can get completely out of control. Spring cleaning is a perfect reminder to clean all the junk out of your purse and/or wallet.

Car

Our vehicles can all use a good spring cleaning after all the abuse of winter. Clean out any junk that has accumulated. Vacuum the carpet. Clean the floor mats. Wash your car or have it washed. Get it ready for the summer road trip season!

Home

Don’t forget to do the traditional spring cleaning around the house. This is a great time to get to projects that you have been putting off. Find time for anything you consider important around your house while doing the spring clean of your schedule. Consider decluttering your home to cut down on future housework. The thing that drew me to minimalism was simplifying our lives and keeping our house cleaner.

Diet

It’s so easy to ignore the sneaky calories wreaking havoc on your waistline. Maybe you can spring clean some of the sugar out of your diet.

Beauty Routine

It’s so easy to bounce from one skincare routine to another without finishing products. Pick a routine and stick to it. If you want to use up products that you already have, don’t buy more until they’re gone. If you have found something that works for you, get rid of the old stuff that didn’t.

I love how nice things feel after I’m done with a good spring clean. Imagine how tidy things will be with just a couple of weeks of work.

Good luck spring cleaning your life!

  1. These are all such great ideas to help spring clean! I definitely need to go through my wardrobe and get rid of things I don’t wear anymore for sure.

  2. I feel so fresh when I clean. I start with small things, like my purse and wardrobe and clean them out periodically. It gives me the freedom to often pick up new trinkets and love them until the next time when I clean again.

Today I organized the kitchen cabinets and drawers. So many things I have never used or not used in a long time. I feel spring when I feel space, and cleaning gives me that space. 🙂

  3. You’ve got some good ideas in your list. A few years ago I heard about inbox zero, and since then I try to clean out my inbox every Friday. I don’t ever get to “zero” but usually I end the week with less than 30 emails left in my inbox and mostly those are for reminders or things to be taken care of a ta later date.

    1. I spend 10-30 minutes a day keeping mine under control. I did the big clean out a while back and it’s so nice to have mostly empty emails. Inbox zero sounds like a good idea.

  4. I love the different ways to clean things out – especially when a lot of these don’t require physical labor. It is in the matter of going through your phone, or whatever. Ooooh I need to go through my work email! The same goes for my diet. Thanks for sharing this list!

    1. It is so often forgotten because it’s not physical but it makes a huge difference in your life if you spend a ton of time on your phone. Visual clutter really bothers me.
