Trying Japanese Snacks & Drinks

Trying Japanese Snacks & Drinks

We wanted to try something new with the kids. We took them to Sakura Mart in Florence, KY. It’s a small Japanese grocery store. We took turns picking out things that we hadn’t tried before. We do this from time to time. We take the kids to a different grocery store, market, or farmer’s market. Then we let them each pick out a couple of things that look interesting that they have never tried. We have also done this in the produce section of our normal grocery store.

This box of tiny mushroom candy was an easy family favorite. It’s a small crunchy cookie stem with a chocolate top. They get bonus points for being super adorable. We will definitely be getting these again!

These fish shaped treats are a little smaller than my hand. They have a cookie outside and a foamy cream middle. We got a chocolate and a strawberry. The strawberry one is completely pink and has a strong strawberry candy smell. The little girls really liked this one. They were a really fun treat.

This pastry roll was so good! It was so soft and smelled really good. It was sweet without being too sweet. I wish I would have bought a couple more of these. It was large so we figured we could share. We did but I didn’t want to. This was one of my favorite things.

These individually wrapped rice snacks were surprisingly good. They’re honey soy sauce flavored. They don’t really taste like either one. I’m guessing it’s because of the combo of flavors.

These are not technically a snack but they looked really good. We have had packets like this before and enjoyed the ease of a quick meal. We bought four of these packets of Curry Sauce with vegetables. We had them for dinner one night over rice. It was a super easy dinner after a busy day and there were happy little faces all around the table.

I did a separate post for the candy kit. You can find it here – Popin’ Cookin’ Kit

It’s so fun to experience something new even though we aren’t going anywhere far away this year because we are saving for our big trip next year!

  1. What a fun idea! I like to try new things with my kids from time to time as well. And as a homeschooler, I’m always thinking of getting education in the mix, it’d be really fun to do this after studying Japan!

    1. Our middle daughter takes Japanese language lessons and loves doing this! We start homeschooling in a year. I’m really excited and a little nervous.
